Hello Memphis!

“BarCamp isn’t just a Web 2.0 conference. It’s an un-conference.”

BarCamp Memphis will be November 14th, at the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering.

Barcamp Memphis will feature many great topics from social media 101, to advance programming techniques. There promises to be something for all levels of online knowledge. A sample of these sessions are posted online, but in traditional Barcamp style many more sessions will be decided the morning of the session.

Barcamp is an international conference idea that is organized by attendees. Presentations are by the attendees (campers) and for the attendees.

Barcamp is often called an “un-conference”, because it is different than the traditional conference. Barcamps usually have low registration fees, if any. They also do not have sponsored sessions. Everyone is invited to speak. This un-conference idea is that we all have knowledge to share and we are all better by sharing what we know with others.

As community help is always needed, ResortQuest is glad to step up. We will be giving a way a free 2-night vacation rental stay to ResortQuest Northwest Florida or Alabama. Stop by Barcamp Memphis and say

Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast is famous for its soft, sugary white sand and clear emerald green water. When you vacation with ResortQuest you receive our beautiful beaches and much more. From spacious condos to cozy cottages to full-service resorts and luxurious private homes – ResortQuest has it in the panhandle.

ResortQuest Delaware Exceeds 2008 Reservations by August 2009 Through Instant Software's Online Distribution Solution

By mid-day August 6, ResortQuest Delaware announced that it set a new record for the number of online bookings and guest stays. While only 218 days into the year, more reservations were made online than the total number of online reservations recorded in 2008. In addition, online bookings made in July 2009, by number and volume, were up approximately 45% over July 2008.

"To achieve success in online distribution and bookings, three things are key," explains Cheryl Spezia, ResortQuest's Corporate Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "The ability of ISILink for direct and immediate availability, an effective website, and optimization [of the website are all critical to the success of our online marketing efforts."

"Our accomplishments online in the last few years, and especially now in this economy, combined with our dedication to customer service, bodes extremely well for our continued success in this market," says marketing manager of ResortQuest Delaware, Tim Fisher. "We can not lose sight that each one of these online bookings is a family placing their trust in us to deliver a truly memorable vacation." ResortQuest manages over 600 Delaware vacation rentals, all with convenient access to beaches, golf, tennis, and area shopping and dining.

Overall, ResortQuest has experienced a dramatic increase in online bookings since using ISILink at a majority of their destinations. "I believe that when a buyer can easily view and reserve a specific home or condominium on a website, it only increases their confidence in booking a vacation rental online." Spezia says.

"Instant Software is proud of its relationship with ResortQuest. This proves that increased reservations can be accomplished with the right technology," explains Dave Hopcroft, Instant Software's CEO.

ISILink is a data hub that consolidates, normalizes, and interprets data from suppliers' reservations systems and enables seamless real-time automated bookings between the different parties' systems. Distributors connect to ISILink and automatically pull information such as property descriptions, availability, prices, and guest reviews to market to potential travelers. When a traveler books a vacation property, the reservation information is sent back through ISILink to the property manager's reservation system and automatically confirms the booking in real-time.

Google Awards ResortQuest Second Place in Display Ad Builder Contest

ResortQuest won second place in a contest sponsored by the search giant, Google. The contest challenged advertisers to use their creativity and innovation to create compelling new display ad builder ads. The winning entries stood out for their choices of template, ad copy, use of images, and overall creativity.

ResortQuest’s winning entry promoted the vacation rental leader’s Destin condos, which are available to anyone interested in short-term, luxury accommodations. Google noted the ads received “a low cost per conversion” compared to other ads, meaning they were most effective in generating bookings and revenue.

John Ellis and Rob Earp manage ResortQuest’s online advertising. John Ellis said, “Low cost per conversion was achieved because the cost per click model is far more efficient than cost-per-impression contracts typically required when launching banner campaigns.” Rob Earp added, “The ease of constructing ads combined with the versatility of purchasing placements on the fly will change how we all purchase and manage display advertising.”

ResortQuest was among the first to embrace Google’s Display Ad Builder and has been rewarded with increased revenue and greater brand recognition.

The AdWords Display Ad Builder allows advertisers to design their own banners in just minutes – for free - using templates provided by Google. Users can customize colors, fonts, text, and add logos and images of their products and services. Based on just one design, Google automatically creates up to six ad sizes that can be run across the Google Content Network, the largest global ad network.
