Play tennis for a great cause — actually, make it four.
Tennis players young and old are invited to the inaugural March Madness 24-hour tennis marathon at the Sea Colony Tennis Center, located at Kent Avenue and West Way Drive in Bethany Beach, Del., on Saturday, March 26.
A full day — 24 hours — of tennis events for all ages is planned, starting Saturday at 1 p.m. The event kicks off with open play for adults and juniors from 1 to 7 p.m., followed by pro and junior exhibitions and twilight doubles. Juniors can compete overnight, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., on teams each representing one of the four featured charities.
Sunday morning starts with a cardio workout at 7 a.m., open play from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by adult clinics, and ending with a Quickstart junior session from noon to 1 p.m.
Proceeds from the tennis endurance event benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Homes for Our Troops, Special Olympics Delaware and Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware.
All events are free and open to everyone. A donation to one of the quartet of non-profit charities is requested.
