|Mountain biking in Sun Valley|
This year's Mountain Bike Nationals have been separated into two events—cross-country and gravity—with Olympic® Cross-Country, Short Track Cross-Country and Super D events taking place on the trails of Bald Mountain at Sun Valley Resort. Bald Mountain, better known by its nickname "Baldy," boasts a wealth of challenging and diverse terrain across 45 kilometers of single track on the mountain proper and an additional 700 kilometers in the surrounding wilderness areas. The event will kickoff on Thursday, July 14 through Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Sun Valley Resort located at One Sun Valley Road in Sun Valley, Idaho.
As a proud Lodging Trade Sponsor of the Ride Sun Valley Bike Festival: Featuring USA Cycling National Championships, ResortQuest is offering 30% off a stay of three nights or more for race participants and spectators at participating properties in Sun Valley and the surrounding areas, including lodging in River Run, Warm Springs and Elkhorn Resort Village. This special rate is available from Saturday, July 9 through Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
"Partnering with USA Cycling as a Lodging Trade Sponsor for the Ride Sun Valley Bike Festival presents the unique opportunity to showcase the value of vacation rentals," said Debbie Fox, General Manager, ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, Sun Valley. "All ResortQuest accommodations in the River Run and Warm Springs neighborhoods are convenient to the race venues. Plus, many properties offer garages, making them an ideal choice for competitors wanting to securely store their bikes and race gear."
River Run is the most centrally located neighborhood in both summer and winter, within walking distance of ski lifts, the town of Ketchum, the bike path and the Big Wood River. Warm Springs is the original skiers' village at the base of Baldy's north-facing slopes, where several restaurants make for an inviting après-ski scene. Elkhorn Village, situated in the hills above Sun Valley, is a separate resort development that boasts swimming pools, hot tubs, tennis and a Robert Trent Jones golf course.
Race organizer Breakaway Promotions has earned a reputation for successfully managing complex cycling events such as the Tour of Utah and the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. Breakaway has long-term experience with USA Cycling and acts as the race coordinator for the Masters Road National Championships; the Juniors, U23 & Elite Road National Championships; and the Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships.
