All events will take place at the Steamboat Ski Resort located at 2305 Mt. Werner Circle, Steamboat Springs, Colo.
In the Cardboard Classic, competitors pilot homemade cardboard crafts—constructed of only cardboard, string, glue, water-based paint, duct tape, masking tape and packing tape—in a hilarious race down the Stampede trail at the Base of the Steamboat Ski Area. One hour prior to the race, the crafts will be judged in the Cardboard d’Elegance with awards being presented for Most Creative, Best Individual Craft, Best Reproduction and Judge’s Choice.
In the Splashdown Pond Skimming Competition, daring skiers and riders—many dressed in wacky costumes—attempt to skim across the surface of an icy pond on skis or a snowboard. The Splashdown takes place on the Stampede trail with overall scores awarded based on creativity of costume, distance skimmed, overall impression and crowd response.
The upscale Torian Plum condominium resort, Steamboat’s premier ski-in/ski-out lodging, is conveniently situated next door to the Splashdown Pond Skim event and just 100 yards from the Gondola concert venue. Resort amenities at Torian Plum include a heated outdoor pool, two indoor and four outdoor hot tubs, sauna, fitness center, on-call ski shuttle, bell staff and on-site front desk. Available condo amenities include a private ski locker, private balcony, gas fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, whirlpool tub, and in-unit washer and dryer.
